I got the Golden Tee. The PCB looks similar to the others- 2 blobs, one with TSOP 48 pads. The crystal is different, 21.47727 MHz vs 21.28137, but I guess that's NTSC vs PAL. Too cold to deglob it today, but it's supposed to warm up over the next few days.

Too cold to deglob it today, but it's supposed to warm up over the next few days. I was wondering that. The game code supports both PAL and NTSC (it reads a bit from a port and displays the Radica UK logo in one case, the generic Radia logo in another) but it would make sense if the crystal differed. They probably used the same code for all regions, just with different crystals. btw, there's an online portfolio for somebody who developed 3 games for Radica http://dupchurch.com/?portfolio=connecttv-cricket-plug-play-tv-gamehttp://dupchurch.com/?portfolio=skannerz-tv-plug-play-tv-gamehttp://dupchurch.com/?portfolio=family-tetris-plug-play-tv-gamedecent chance all 3 are this hardware (although the resolution looks maybe higher 320 instead of 256?) He also mentions a 'Radica McKids Dance' made for McDonalds in one of them.. some kind of Dancemat with songs..

Do you clear off the dust before each picture? I've been cleaning the panels with a lens wipe, alcohol if needed and razor blade for the really bad ones. Then I use a lens wipe, brush, and blower on each panel before taking pics. I also brush and blow off the polarizers. The speck could be on the light table below the panel; I bought a copy stand, so I can use a larger aperture to get more depth of field so that the segments are in better focus. But that means that more dirt is in focus, too. I'll make sure I clean under the panel more often. I can also change out polarizers; I can't use most of the ones that come with the games because they are so worn, so I bought a pack of new ones to use instead. But they are pretty easy to scratch, so I change them out every so often. I was trying to get pics of Hook yesterday, but the segments weren't getting turned on strongly. I'm wondering if it's from the cold; I left the panels in the basement, and it's a few degrees cooler down there. So I brought them upstairs to warm up, and I'll try again later. Or maybe the Hook panel is damaged.

Hook: If it's damaged, it'll still be worth a try playing with contrast/gamma to turn it into something that potrace likes.

btw the Golden Tee Home edition was done by Radica by Farsight Studios http://www.farsightstudios.com/Games/They list all their games there, including gems such as 'Action 52' and 'Art Alive' so you know we're dealing with quality here ;-) Interestingly before Golden Tee Home edition it looks like the same game was published without the Golden Tee license or ingame themeing as "Real Swing Golf" They also did a number of the other Radica PlayTV games including the Skateboarder one. The list on their page is in chronological order. Jibbi (virtual pet thing for the TV - there are 2 on eBay in the US right now) PlayTV Skaterboarder Golden Tee Golf Real Swing Golf PlayTV Basketball PlayTV Madden PlayTV Football 2 (like Madden but without the license) PlayTV Baseball 3 I'd hazard a guess these are all on the same platform.

The Barbie dancemat makes sense - Mattel bought Radica in 2007.
