Code
Contains a full game "Lernen mit Leap" and is in reality really only called "Leapster"...so most likely really only
a new revision of the console.
I'm not sure, but i think in german-speaking-Europe the real "Leapster 2" did not get released.

Here's the Skateboarder rom: www.seanriddle.com/skateboarder.bin There's a checksum at the top that matches.

Like the v.smile BIOS I dumped, it has lots of "SP_Tonemaker" sections of MIDI data.

Yeah, that puts skateboarder firmly in the unSP / vii.cpp driver then

There's only one crystal on the PCB; there's another spot for one, but it was never populated. The crystal is marked BML 6.0M.

The Skateboarder base has 6 buttons: front, back, slight left, full left, slight right, full right. There's also a hand controller with X, M and O.

Hmm sounds odd, maybe it's generated internally here or something. I don't know. Not too important I'm guessing.

for some screenshots and a video of this one. There are a few graphical glitches, but there are with the other things in the driver too. Seems stable.

and yeah, the controls you list match up with what i found, glad there aren't any others smile

Klaus sent me the motherboard from a VTech Intelligence Advance E/R Lerncomputer that has several globs, one of which has TSOP48 pads. I dumped it and it starts off with 6502 initialization code, and it looks like there's a DOS partition. I found text for a test mode with several options. I don't see any markings on the CPU die.

Sean: Good deal on that computer, I'll take a look.

ETA: It's not a stock 6502, looks like it's probably the Rockwell? 65C02 (ie, the one Apple didn't use with the bit-twiddling instructions).
