I know that QMC2 focus on functionality instead of beauty. But do you have plans to develop a more 'interesting' user interface for it in a near future?

Something like the hability to have a list of game marquees, such as what Hyperspin does for example. It's pretty neat to be able to select a game by selecting its marquee image instead of a plain text. QMC2-Arcade may be a better approach since it has a more graphical UI, so we could have the marquees displayed beside the machine instead of white/transparent buttons.

Just curious, because I know it demands a lot of work smile

QMC2 hasn't been updated in a few months now. The SVN is still stuck at 0.196, which wasn't even finished and released. (I regularly update the source just to see, hasn't changed since March). Not too sure Mr QMC2 is even still working on it.

He said when he was last here that he's got a lot going on IRL this year but he should be back. I certainly hope so, or we're out of FEs I can recommend.

Afaik the current version is still fine with latest MAME, so there's probably no need for him to attend until that situation changes.

There's an issue with the slot devices because of some changes Vas made a few versions back, but everything else works.

I'm not the one who broke it, I'm just trying to pick up the pieces dammit.

He's allowed to have a month or more off out of 10 years to enjoy RL, vacations, or w/e his passion is these days.
Also, he can still lurk and read everything without being logged in and surely he's keeping track locally if the latest released QMC2 works with the latest MAME.

Of course it's probably best if others stop suggesting he make QMC2 mimic HyperSpin while we're at it :P

Yeah its not like anyone in the emu scene does this for a living, at some point they're going to have to take a break to focus on reality. Mine still works great (I hardly ever use the MESS side of things anyways), I just hope he comes back. Ive been trying Negatron out which is a pretty cool front end, but he can't seem to get around some changes that have been made to MAME awhile back and might just start packaging his own custom fork of MAME with it to make up for it, which means it probably won't be as cross platform as it was as a frontend and Id rather use the official source for mine. Its a java app too, and Im not really big on those in general.
