Ah so you have quite a few of those after all, nice stuff.
ahah 90 cents... and some guys asking $30+ per game these days on ebay, they normally never sell of course smile

Did you ever scan any carts for the games you own btw? It would be pretty cool to use them as bezels in MAME.
Regarding the filters I'm sure someone else can give you good advice on the better way to scan them, are the filters detachable from the carts? If so that would certainly make it easier to scan.

I do need to scan some carts, instructions, etc. The filters do come off. In fact, you have to remove them if you want to use the head-mounted or handheld systems.

Speaking of artwork, has anyone tried to make Microvision artwork? The overlay artwork can be important for gameplay. I believe I made some scans a long time ago, might need to check how good they are.

For MAME, not that I know of. There's an emulator package by Raph Koster that includes overlays: https://www.raphkoster.com/2017/05/07/microvision-emulator-release/

If the filters come off I guess you can try scanning them directly and see the result, if it doesn't look good some different technique could be used.
Would be nice if you could scan the carts, but I guess I should extend that request to Sean since he should have quite a few of your R-Zone games in his possession now smile

Thanks for the link hap, I wasn't aware of that modified version of Paul Robson's emulator it looks nice even though I'd rather not have the actual console showing at the left side.

Bump.

Sean, out of the following Game & Watch titles, which ones should I send to you? Another handheld fan has graciously offered to share shipping costs. I'm thinking that priority should be given to ones that you would be able to dump electronically and keep in working order for eventual resale.

Mario's Cement Factory
Donkey Kong
Donkey Kong Jr.
Donkey Kong II
Donkey Kong 3
Donkey Kong Hockey
Boxing
Black Jack
Parachute
Snoopy Tennis
Green House
Squish
Mickey & Donald
Gold Cliff
Safebuster
Bomb Sweeper
Fire Attack
Zelda
Oil Panic
Rain Shower
Life Boat
Mario Bros.
Fire
Turtle Bridge
Octopus
Manhole
Ball
Popeye
Tropical Fish
Climber

You won't know for certain what chip is in them until they're inspected. But here's my logical guesses.
SM510: can be dumped electronically
SM511: program rom can be dumped electronically, melody rom not quite yet
SM5A: not decapped or dumped yet, but very likely possible to dump electronically

Mario's Cement Factory - new wide screen: already dumped. tabletop: SM511?
Donkey Kong - SM510
Donkey Kong Jr. - new wide screen: already dumped. tabletop: SM511?
Donkey Kong II - already dumped
Donkey Kong 3 - SM511
Donkey Kong Hockey - SM511
Boxing - already dumped (maybe useful for trying to dump melody rom)
Black Jack - already have
Parachute - SM5A
Snoopy Tennis - SM5A
Green House - SM510
Squish - SM510
Mickey & Donald - already dumped
Gold Cliff - SM511
Safebuster - SM511
Bomb Sweeper - SM511
Fire Attack - SM5A
Zelda - SM511
Oil Panic - SM510
Rain Shower - SM510
Life Boat - SM510?
Mario Bros. - already dumped
Fire - silver: unknown, wide screen: SM5A
Turtle Bridge - SM5A
Octopus - SM5A
Manhole - gold: unknown, new wide screen: SM510
Ball - unknown
Popeye - SM5A
Tropical Fish - SM510?
Climber - SM511

Not to sound ungrateful, but do you have a proven track record? My Game & Watch collection represents quite a lot of expenditure on my part and the part of those who helped me win some of the auctions. I would feel much more comfortable shipping them off to Sean Riddle, who has proven himself capable in this thread time after time, rather than having to eat the cost and gargantuan risk of shipping all of these off to Russia, and then to the USA, in the event that "try to" turns into "can't".

EDIT: Oh, hey! I didn't recognize your nickname. hap filled me in. Cool stuff, you seem like a technically capable dude. It could be beneficial for both of us for you to dump some of these. smile

Note that for emulation, we also need quality scans of the backdrop, and LCD screen itself(to be converted to svg). As well as tracing the segment/commons pins to each LCD segment.
