Hi -

Its been a while since I tried out neo geo aes and for some reason isn’t working for me again.
I’m trying through command line as follows(on Mac os):

/Users/hairball/Games/MAME/mame64 aes -cart bjourney -rompath "/Users/hairball/Games/Neogeo_aes;/Users/hairball/Games/MAME/bios"

However its says its unable able to find certain files for the game even though are in the zip folder.
If I remove the bios path from the -rompath then its says it cant find the files for the bios.

Neoeo_aes is the folder where the games are at and bios is where the aes.zip and neogeo.zip bios are at.

Not sure how or what I messed up here.

What would be the correct way via command line ?

I appreciate any help with this.

what is the exact error message? support requests without specific details are next to useless.

what is in your bjourney.zip?

does it work if you put bjourney.zip in the bios folder (since you've verified it does look in there)

-swpath SHOULDN'T be needed, unless the Mac OS build is misbehaving, but you might want to try setting it too

or putting bjourney.zip under a 'neogeo' folder (again, shouldn't be needed, at least on Windows MAME will look in the root rompath if it can't find anything in sub folders)

you haven't provided nearly enough information.

If I do this
Users/hairball/Games/MAME/mame64 aes -cart bjourney -rompath "/Users/hairball/Games/Neogeo_aes;/Users/hairball/Games/MAME/bios"
I get

022-s1.s1 NOT FOUND (tried in aes neogeo/bjourney bjourney)
022-m1.m1 NOT FOUND (tried in aes neogeo/bjourney bjourney)

apparently you might have to set -swpath for the non-windows targets (and maybe also put it in a neogeo sub-folder under the swpath, not required on Windows, but...)

-swpath is meant for 'loose' items only (which wouldn't work for NeoGeo) but it sounds like the Mac port looks for Software List there and is more strict in general, even if it contradicts the documentation.

So something like this -

Users/hairball/Games/MAME/mame64 aes -cart bjourney -rompath "/Users/hairball/Games/MAME/bios” -swpath "/Users/hairball/Games/Neogeo_aes”

yes, with bjourney.zip in /Users/hairball/Games/Neogeo_aes or /Users/hairball/Games/Neogeo_aes/neogeo (if Mac OS doesn't search down the tree like Windows does)

Well If I move bjourney.zip over to MAME's rom folder (which I use for arcade games and sit in the same folder as MAME) it works this way -

/Users/hairball/Games/MAME/mame64 bjourney.zip -rompath "/Users/hairballs/Games/MAME/roms;/Users/hairball/Games/MAME/bios"

Weird...

this would simply suggest there is a typo in one of your rom paths then.

Anyway I did drag an drop the folders in the terminal window for rompath and swpath to make sure they were correct still no go.

Just for the heck of it I tried (which I know doesn't work) /Users/hairball/Games/MAME/mame64 aes -cart /Users/hairball/Games/Neogeo_aes/bjourney.zip
which launched aes but I just get a flicker and then a blue screen.

I'm pretty sure the paths are correct. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Ok so I made a new NeoGeo_AES folder put the roms in it and tried this again -

/Users/hairball/Games/MAME/mame64 aes -cart bjourney -rompath "/Users/hairball/Games/NeoGeo_AES;/Users/hairball/Games/MAME/bios"

and what do you know it works now! Have no idea why... maybe a some sort of internal corruption in path in Mac OS ?....

Weird....

Anyway thanks for the help.
