A while ago I posted two ROM versions for a Sanyo MBC-17plus 286 compatible. They wouldn't work in the regular 286 driver, and there was still the suspicion that they might be bad dumps.
I got one of those machines myself in the meantime and dumped the ROMs, but those don't slot into the AT driver either. As friends are trying to repair a MBC-17plus it would be great to have it running in MAME for comparisons.
Could some kind soul please take a stab at getting the confirmed good ROMs (on the FTP) running?

The MBC-17plus reportedly uses the ZyMOS POACH/AT chipset. Documentation for this seems hard to find, or I might just be looking in the wrong places.

I discovered a lot of the -bios options on at486 come to life (and give you niceties like working > 504MB IDE support and IDE geometry auto-detect) if you give them the Dallas version of the MC146818 with double the CMOS RAM, but it's kind of a pain to make the AT motherboard device do that in a switchable way.

Nice discovery, RB! I have several more 286, 386 and 486 and quite a few Pentium firmware versions to add.

@AJR thanks for checking ... I'll ask what's in the Sanyo documentation.

From those links, it seems that the 82230/82231 described in my Intel databook were second sources of the ZyMOS POACH1/2, so that chipset can be considered documented. (POACH3, according to Circuit Cellar, is just a bus buffer.)

Some of the Commodore AT machines require Ctrl-Alt-Esc to access the BIOS setup. How do I pass these keystrokes to MAME? Even in full keyboard mode Windows is task switching me away from MAME.

Remap Ctrl to Shift maybe?

The Commodore PC-I (compc1) seems to have acquired the correct BIOS ROM V1.1 in MAME 0.173 (I had dumped them in 2012 and just re-compared with my unit), but it looks like it didn't run - I tried old MAME and MESS versions up to 0.209.

http://www.zimmers.net/anonftp/pub/cbm-pc/ALLFILES.html has that V1.1 ROM and a V1.2 ROM. Moving the PC-I to compc.cpp got the V1.2 ROM going, the V1.1 just freezes MAME.

Included in the archive on the FTP is a PDF with a technical manual of the PC-I.

I added the ROM for a Nixdorf 8810 M30, a 286 desktop machine. This one doesn't like our NEAT chipset. A user on the German forum commented that the NEAT chipset hat two revision bits that could be queried by the BIOS.
