Hi there,

I have collected information, pictures, floppy images and a ROM dump of the machine labeled Questar/M.

It is made in 1982 by R2E - the french company that is claimed to have build the first commercial microcomputer - the Micral.
This machine is IMHO more or less equal to the Micral 80-22, that is already in MAME (marked as not working).
I have bought it this year because it is a close "relative" to my Olympia Boss machine which is on MAME thanks to @rfka01.

Here is my collected info to start off.

By the way: This is my first contribution to the MAME project! If you need more Information please tell me.

Regards
Aquarius

Here are the specs of the floppy:

- 2 x Tandon TM 100-4

- hard sectored

- 640 kB capacity (manual says 600 kB)

- 2 sides

- 80 tracks per side

- 16 sectors per track (0-15 on side 0, 16-31 on side 1)

- 256 bytes per sector

- 300 rpm

- MFM sync ...AAAA AAAA AA91 2AAA (bytes 00 00 05 00)

- Decoded track format 05 00 TT SS + data*256 + two checksum bytes + padding

- First checksum byte is TT + SS + data + overflows of the calculation

- Second checksum byte calculation not solved yet

Here is the source of the reverse engineered data dumps.

How to boot from floppy 0 (left floppydrive in the real machine):

1) Prologue (QMOS): Type "B0,8" resulting in "B:0,8" on screen

2) CP/M: Type "B0" resulting in "B:0" on screen

Hi aquarius, thanks for posting your files and information here.
I've created a pull request where I've added your BIOS file for the QUESTAR/M to the micral driver. And sure enough, instead of

[Linked Image]

we now get

[Linked Image]

It would be great if one of the devs could add the floppy system to the Micral and Questar/M - thanks to aquarius' post we now have disk images.

In case the floppy images need to be extracted again from the kryoflux raw data, here is the Link.
