What's a good example for hooking up the PWM display with a standard 2-digit 7-segment setup? I'm asking for a friend named enmirage.cpp.

grep for it? The calculators in hh_tms1k have 7seg displays.

Looking at mirage_via_write_porta, the code here would something like:

u8 segdata = bitswap<8>(1 << (data & 7)),dp,g,f,e,d,c,b,a);
m_display->matrix(data >> 3 & 3, segdata);

and in the machine config:

PWM_DISPLAY(config, m_display).set_size(2, 8);
m_display->set_segmask(0x3, 0xff);

They will be output to "digit0" and "digit1"

FWIW I recommend hydef's artwork for the best experience.

Uploaded Kazaam if you want to play it in the dark smile No screenshot because I'm not a fan of my Tiger stuff.

Tiger Ninja Gaiden. This one was decapped/dumped a long time ago but the SVG was unfinished. I manually ID'd the segments from a zoomed in LCD photo by Sean and added it to MAME.

I don't think Sean scanned the outer case.

PSA: Next MAME version will suport new blendmodes in artwork files.
on the + side: the layered screen workaround isn't needed anymore (eg. oil panic)
on the - side: they won't be compatible with older versions of MAME.

The current .lay syntax is now legacy and will eventually be removed, maybe in a year or so.

*edit* details in cuavas's git commit: https://github.com/mamedev/mame/commit/c38a3395e94e38a37cf6b8efdf9f49a5c9d415df

The G&W dumping work continues and now Safe Buster has been preserved in MAME smile

The game is SM511 based and looks like this:
[Linked Image]

The gameplay is quite simple for a game released this late in the G&W series. Other G&W games released at around the same time are much more advanced (i.e. squish, goldcliff and super mario bros.)

Thanks to JustDesserts for supplying the game!

@hap: Thanks for the info on the new artwork/layout format. I will play around a bit with it to understand it better but I assume that this means that for games with two inlays, one in-front of the display and one behind, each inlay image can be kept in separate files? Also, shadows can also be kept in a separate image and enabled depending on selected view?

This will be great for the handhelds and will hopefully make life a bit easier for hydef smile
