TeamE will dump some Husky DOS handhelds for me - a Husky Hunter 16, a Hunter 16/80 and - if possible - a FC486. Unfortunately I can't turn on the latter at the moment as its power supply hasn't arrived yet. The ROM appears to be contained in a ROM SIMM marked AWARD CARDWARE. The bottom side of the mainboard only contains another SIMM slot and two PCMCIA slots.
Any ideas how the ROM could be dumped?

TeamE dumped the Husky 16, Husky 16/80 and Itron FS3, also a Husky design. I put the stuff on the FTP and will post secondary links and more information here soon.

smile yet we still need a strategy for the flash simm from the first post... de-soldering individual ics is a tedious business...

Those SMTs I think you can just heat gun it for a minute or two and the chips will fall off the board.

The Hunter 16 and 16/80 are missing a ROM dump. If you look at the photos, below the main ROM, there is another Husky marked ROM with the same pinout as the RAM. I'd guess this is the Fixed Disk containing MS-DOS.

The Hunter 2/16 that I recently added also has a similar ROM. It's owner is looking to get an adaptor made to dump it.

Hi Pernod, I can send my machines once the adapter is ready.
What type would you dump it as? I could ask TeamE to give them a go as well.

Robert

P.S. Any idea what to do with the FS3 ROM SIMM?

I've no idea for either, I'm not the dumper. I'll post any further details if/when it's dumped from the 2/16.
