Hey, has anybody ever been able to find an AMD document called "AMD Athlon and AMD Duron Processor BIOS, Software, and Debug Developers Guide, order# 21656"? I can't find it on Google, Bitsavers, AMD's website, or ChipDB's datasheets section. I want to add Athlon emulation in 86box, but I just can't find ANY documentation on the AMD Athlon's MSRs. I'd add this emulation to MAME also, but there is currently no i386 dynarec in MAME, and I'm frankly too intimidated by the sheer MAGNITUDE of changes needed to make that happen.

I've been testing various module players (everything on pouet + a few others) in ct486 with sblaster_16 and gus, looking for something that could play in stereo/44khz and match libopenmpt's playback accuracy; Cubic Player seems closest so far. Module playback isn't easy -- https://wiki.openmpt.org/Manual:_Compatible_Playback and https://hornet.org/code/audio/docs/fmoddoc2.zip so it's no surprise.

Notes:
- GUS can mix at 44khz only when 14 channels or less are active; and it's probably not possible to perfectly synchronize all channels, as you have to start playback channel by channel, waiting a few us between I/O port accesses.
- MAME is missing a few features -- panning in GUS (so its output is always mono) and a few more variants of playback commands in SB.

I've added the Triumph-Adler P10 to pc.cpp and sent a PR. Both its files and files for the Alphatronic P50-2 are on the FTP now.

The P50 is a special case, I hope one of the devs is interested: It's an 80186 based IBM compatible (or so is claimed). It doesn't just slot into pc.cpp, so I had to skip that one.
Check out the messages the programmers left in the ROMs ... either they had had a clown for breakfast or it was a very bleak place to work at indeed.

This EPROM contains a secret message!

This uses the irmx mode of the 80186 builtin interrupt controller. It's unimplemented as it's the first machine I've seen that does that.

Edit: It doesn't even connect the internal interrupt controller making the internal peripherals mostly unusable. Makes it an overgrown 8086.

Beeps three times at start but otherwise seems to work fine.

Wow, that's great, thanks!
I have a few more oddball systems/BIOS versions that I'll upload in the next days, e.g. the BIOS from the Sanyo 16LT Laptop ... looks like the poor sap is looking for its MDA LCD display and can't find it smile

I've now uploaded the files for the Sanyo laptop mentioned in the last post and included the ROMs and some info in a PR.
I've also uploaded my collection of stuff for the Compudata Tulip System I , another early MS-DOS-, but not IBM-compatible system.

Oh, the Tulip System I seems to be one of the rare systems using the Intel 8089 I/O processor (at least optionally).

EDIT:

Doesn't take much for it to show something on screen (resolution is wrong).

Working on IBM XDF floppy format support. It's quite funky, but not too funky for MAME smile

Here's how it looks like on disk -- track 0 is relatively normal, the rest use variable sector sizes (512, 1024, 2048 and 8192 bytes):
Code
500Kbps MFM, 19 sectors, 512 bytes/sector, gap3=74:
  0.0 1 138 129 139 130 2 131 3 132 4 133 5 134 6 135 7 136 8 137
500Kbps MFM, 4 sectors, 512 bytes/sector, gap3=74:
  1.0 131[n3] 130 132[n4] 134[n6]
  2.0 131[n3] 130 132[n4] 134[n6]
  3.0 131[n3] 130 132[n4] 134[n6]
<....>

500Kbps MFM, 19 sectors, 512 bytes/sector, gap3=74:
  0.1 144 135 145 136 146 137 147 138 129 139 130 140 131 141 132 142 133 143 134
500Kbps MFM, 4 sectors, 512 bytes/sector, gap3=74:
  1.1 132[n4] 130 131[n3] 134[n6]
  2.1 132[n4] 130 131[n3] 134[n6]
  3.1 132[n4] 130 131[n3] 134[n6]

Got an implementation of the Baby Blue II CPU card working. And since it runs CP/M, I can test it with the Amstrad Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy files...
