Nice! I think we support CP/M cards on pretty much every machine that has them now.

Thanks for emulating this card!
I knew of the Baby Blues series, but there are Apple II emulator cards for the PC as well smile

I've uploaded an archive with ROMs, documentation and bootdisks for the NEC Multispeed EL to the FTP (cheating a bit because the character ROM comes from an online source for the HD model).
This must be one of the earliest examples for a PC with an integrated help system (it even has a dedicated key for it). Another special key is for the memory resident programs like telcom, notepad and others (this laptop was available with an internal 2400 Baud modem).

What's the purpose of these X-ROMs or XL-ROMs on these ET4000 SVGA cards?

On the second card it's mainly repeats of

Code

 !"#$%&'()*+,-./0123456789:;<=>?@ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ[\]^_`abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz{|}~€‚ƒ„…†‡ˆ‰Š‹ŒŽ‘’“”•–—˜™š›œžŸ ¡¢£¤¥¦§¨©ª«¬®¯°±²³´µ¶·¸¹º»¼½¾¿ÀÁÂÃÄÅÆÇÈÉÊËÌÍÎÏÐÑÒÓÔÕÖ×ØÙÚÛÜÝÞßàáâãäåæçèéêëìíîïðñòóôõö÷øùúûüýþÿ

Default CGA/EGA/VGA palettes? Gamma ramp? Hard to tell without seeing the raw hex.

The et4000 reference (http://www.bitsavers.org/components/tsengLabs/Tseng_Labs_ET4000_Graphics_Controller_1990.pdf) describes a Translation ROM which translates crtc writes to allow safe usage of various fixed sync monitors. The M24 does something similar but reversed to allow cga programs which write directly to the crtc to work correctly with its 640x400 monitor.

Right, thanks! I dumped these as 27C512 EPROMs, so I hope the dumps are correct.
