Here's a mockup with the actual scanned front layers being rendered with Multiply:

Can they be rendered like that in MAME? I vaguely remember that something related to layer blend modes was added not too long ago.

Here's how the layer transparencies look like on real hardware, for reference (layer placement obviously doesn't look right due to the camera angle):

I will revisit Pinball at some point to put the raw scans as an option. For now I started these. I'll go in and do some more clean up but they are uploaded as is for now.

A little behind on the dumpings, but has this one been dumped/emulated?
https://www.handheldmuseum.com/Entex/3DGrandPrix.htm

Or can it be? Two COP421 processors, but not sure about the LCD controller (EL641-001 MAZE)
I have one I was going to sell, but can share/donate for the cause... smile

Yeah, it can be dumped. I'm sure Sean Riddle would be happy to receive it, he's very busy though.
There is a probability that the LCD would need to be decapped (aka, destroyed).

G&W Crab Grab has now been preserved in MAME smile

With this game completed, both games in the Super Color series (Spitball Sparky and Crab Grab) are now supported in MAME. I think this is the first time this game gets emulated/simulated.

This game uses similar hardware as Spitball Sparky: an SM510 MCU and an LCD screen with the same dimensions as the table top games.

This is a screenshot from the game:

Scans of the game case, LCD inlays and some photos of the game has been uploaded to the dropbox dir.

Big thanks to JustDesserts for lending out the game!

Artwork is up and in two flavors. I've read that the white version is either a production mistake/change or the result of all the silver paint falling off. I don't buy the latter since I have only seen fully silver or fully white versions, nothing in between.

At some point, I updated Pinball with a raw scan option (save a few hairs removed) and cleaned up the Table Top units.

The two layers on G&W Pinball remind me of the modern IGT video slots (at least in Australia with the BlueChip Neo/Neo-N machines, no idea about US etc.), they use a 3D LCD monitor to do a similar thing, the virtual reels are usually displayed on the back layer, but when you get a winning line the symbols are displayed on the front layer and made larger. It's basically a transparent LCD on top of another LCD.

I don't think there's anything I will change on Crab Grab since it doesn't really have a background image to clean-up or rework. I'm pretty happy with everything on my drive. Someone requested a unit-only with black background view for the Table Top units, so I will be adding those soon, that's likely it for any major changes.
