I think the best thing would be to just clean all dirt and hairs from the scans (which is what we had been doing until Pinball, I think?) and try to avoid any kind of artistic interpretations, for the sake of MAME's emulation being as historically accurate as possible (and leave changes/vectorizations/fan-made backgrounds to HBMAME, maybe).

If something happens to look a bit blurry in it, I would personally prefer it to stay that way until a better scan surfaces, but of course that's just my opinion.

And yes, I know that most of the altered elements in this case are hidden anyway, but I think that people should be able to have a look at the original assets for research purposes, just like they can check out the original graphics/sounds/etc inside the ROMs with the appropriate tools.

I added an "original scan" option as I did on some of the others I did. It's basically the one from Henrik's picture with a few hairs removed.

That's very awesome, thank you.

I remember seeing the anchor tattoo more vividly, but I pulled out my Panorama Popeye and it's kinda hard to tell cause the batteries are pretty dead.

Might depend on the lighting.

Micro Vs. System: Donkey Kong 3 has now been preserved in MAME smile

The Micro Vs. System units can be played by two players and has a wider screen than other Game and Watch units. The game is based on the SM511.

Here's a screenshot from the game:

Thanks to JustDesserts for lending out the game!

Nice work as always, Henrik. Artwork is up.

Game & Watch Artwork

I also uploaded artwork for the purple version of Judge as gnw_judgep. This ROM isn't in MAME yet but you can use this in the meantime by changing the name to gnw_judge. I'll update the names if necessary if this version is ever added into MAME.

Just FYI, the color green is much more muted in a real unit. There's more blue to go along with the green, giving it more of a greenish aquamarine color than the pure green depicted in your art.

OK, thanks. I updated it and edited the post with the new coloring.

Great. I did another quick update since I forgot to fix the color when the buttons animate.
