Looking forward to seeing your collection of Rainbow disks ... looks like you have a fantastic amount of originals.

I bought what I think was a Rainbow User Group's old lending library years ago (though maybe it was just a packrat who liked to backup things) when I lived in Palo Alto years ago and then stuck them in a box and forgot about them for a long time... But it turns out that there's some cool things, and a lot that's duplicated on one of the online archives.... sorting through it all is a bit pita... (though some of that I bring on myself, since I'm also a bit of a packrat, I've had my Rainbow 100B since 1984 and still have many of the original receipts from purchasing it, turbo pascal, etc)

Don't assume duplicate titles are actually duplicate versions when you're sorting smile

Yea, that's how I found I have a MS-DOS 3.10 disk (not the 3.10b that SS sold which I also have, both as a copy from the lending library and as an original I bought from SS)... md5 is your friend smile.

Bavarese reminded me that a DISKPART.EXE is to be found on one of the disks we got in a haul described earlier in this thread, https://www.magentacloud.de/lnk/ycSzr0pq

Nice. I'll add it to the collection I'm slowly building...

I've uploaded the disks to github
I just saw the forum thread on my desktop and didn't realize the pic would be so huge... sorry it's too late to edit
Not sure if these should be at bitsavers, but am happy to workout getting them there.

The first two are P-SYSTEM disks, but have at least some PASCAL source on them. This is my first p-system rodeo, so I've no idea what's on them. They read w/o errors.
The third is a CP/M filesystem with drivers and source, though I've not plummed the depths of what 'src' is entirely...

Disks 1 + 2 appeared 'broken' - until i corrected the sector skew

Because i found Apple references, i tried Ciderpress afterwards (normally ill-suited for Rainbow images, but very capable concerning the general UCSD format) -
https://github.com/fadden/ciderpress/

Here is a link to the uncompressed files + disk images - with a bit of descriptive text in the main directory:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/yvho9yed2yvv86a/CORPC-Disks.7z?dl=1
[files in the Apple directory have the same size as indicated in the Ciderpress screenshot, so i guess MS-DOS / CP/M / UCSD executables could be reconstructed..somehow ]

As already noted, disk 3 is a regular CP/M image - and can be extracted with 'cpmtools' ('dec_pro' setting, see DISKDEFS).

The three most relevant documents on Bitsavers appear to be

http://bitsavers.org/pdf/corvus/710...managers-guide-dec-rainbow-100-Oct83.pdf
http://bitsavers.org/pdf/corvus/710...tation-users-guide-dec-rainbow-oct83.pdf
http://bitsavers.org/pdf/corvus/710...allation-guide-dec-rainbow-100-Jul83.pdf

There is no emulation of the Z80 controller yet - just a register (HLE) emulation - as far as i remember. So OMNINET related things and firmware uploads will probably fail.

Not sure how to continue from here on... Given CP/M or UCSD enthusiasts are rare nowadays. crazy

EDIT: Al Kossow has some first hand experience with Corvus hardware and customs.
We discussed the necessity to archive hard disk contents years ago. There were special or reserved sections on Corcus hard disks (PIPE, BACKUP etc.) which can get lost if formatted.
PIPE was reserved for OS independent file transfer (and indirect print); BACKUP was a restriced place where a user could log in without password (file restoration only).

"CP/M or UCSD enthusiasts are rare nowadays."

you aren't looking in the right places

there was a UCSD yahoo list, I don't think it migrated
and there still is an active CP/M usenet group
