Hmm, yeah, I guess technically that is two VFDs. smile

Does the fact that one needs to be displayed directly over the other one cause any problems? That's how Zaxxon works, one of them will have to be slightly transparent and overlayed on the other one.

Ah, Coleco Zaxxon's MCU *is* known, it's right there in the known MCU serials list in the driver:

Ah, cool, good to know. For some reason I thought we knew it was one of the normal VFD chips. Not sure how we kept skipping it when dumping games. I think at the start I was focusing on the rare games before I sold my collection, so the 'common' Coleco's and such were put lower on the list. smile

Then again all the other coleco tabletops were dumped so maybe zaxxon just ended up forgotten for some reason.

Glad you didn't sell it though, so this can now be fixed smile

Hi folks!

I was wondering if anyone here knows anything concerning a very obscure game console called the "Microcomputer Mahjong" (マイコン麻雀) ?

I recently had one in my possession but before i sent it overseas (sold to a new collector in Spain), i have dumped the eproms inside the console
(there is five Eproms) and just to be sure these were dumped correctly, i have tested them with the emulator "eMuCom Mahjong"
(http://gorry.haun.org/pw/?eMuCom_Mahjong) by Gorry and it works great.

So if anyone needs the dumps (and emulator), just go here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1GkLJtRU6QW3i_-f3Ld6nYHyf9gWH5rAu?usp=sharing

Hope to see this game console emulated (and especially preserved) in MAME soon! wink

Can't wait to see Astro Thunder7 by Epoch emulated as it's a pretty good "Star Wars"-type game.

Looks like a very simple Z80 based system.

Why in 2022 are emulators still requiring people to create fake ROMs by joining files together, rather than just using the proper dumps though.

Not a handheld, more like a 'tv game'.
Did you make pcb photos? (chip labels, XTAL).

According to that emulator, CPU is Z80 @ 11059200/4.
It is GPL2, but this hw looks simple enough that you wouldn't have to copy paste source code.

Astro Thunder/Firefox: Years ago, Kevtris tried to dump it but couldn't figure it out. It's a uCOM-75(unemulated), and also a 2nd MCU for sound.
