Yeah no difference. I'm not sure - everything else I have on this box runs fine - I have StepMania, Clone Hero, and OpenEMU totally dialed in!

does -video bgfx -bgfx_backend opengl make any difference?

you could even add -bgfx_debug to get some on screen statistics

So yeah data point: I loaded El Cap on a sandbox external drive and it won't run the most recent but I grabbed like a .21x and it works - MK at 100%, KI at 98%. I'm going to try a Mojave sandbox with the newest stuff and see if that works. But right now I think High Sierra is the culprit. More testing tomorrow it is bedtime here for me!

SOLVED!

High Sierra is indeed a garbage OS for this application. For kicks I made a sandbox Mojave drive and it worked pretty much perfectly - a few games like KI run at like 98-99% which is Good Enough. I spent a couple of hours this morning blowing the whole HS mess away and rebuilding it in Mojave. Works great, no issues. High Sierra worst MacOS fight me :P
