With recent builds of MAME (roughly over the last 6 months), now all of a sudden my emulation performance caps at 50%

```
   ~/Workspace/mame    master ?1  ./mame -window mindset  ✔
Average speed: 50.15% (19 seconds)
   ~/Workspace/mame    master ?1  ./mame -window puckman  ✔  41s 
Average speed: 50.02% (2 seconds)
   ~/Workspace/mame    master ?1 
```

What gives? Is there a compile time option I now need to set?

Is your display running at 30 Hz and you have VSync active?

Yeah, I would assume a 30 Hz display (e.g. 4K over HDMI < 2.1 instead of DisplayPort) plus VSync.

Both of my displays are vsync'ed yes, but they are both running at 60Hz.

The "30.00" is suspicious.

... have you tried renaming the configuration file and running MAME to see what happens?

I've had issues with the program once in a while where it stops working correctly after an update. Regenerating the config files usually fixes things for me.

What happens if you drop both screens resolutions down to 1920x1080?

also what if you do "-nowaitsync"

./mame -showusage | grep vsync
-waitvsync enable waiting for the start of VBLANK before flipping screens (reduces tearing effects)

As long shot you may want to look if the cables are the same and with somewhat decent quality to both monitors. No need to spend fortunes, that's not the point but cheap cables are cheap for a reason.

I had issues before on three screens on the same brand cables (dirt cheap, but I learned the lesson). From flickering to different colors to simple monitors black screens as if the cables were disconnected, you name it.
