Hey guys,

Al Kossow handed me a link to archived RX01 floppy dumps containing the (VERY) transmogrified MACRO-11 assembler used to emit 6502, 6800, and 6809 code for Atari's coin-op division between 1976 to 1983 (when it was rewritten in C).

I have made a video demonstrating it, along with a supplementary github repo:

https://github.com/tschak909/atari-coin-op-assembler

I show the process of making a code change using KED, then assembling, linking, and shuttling the resulting mountain of paper tape over to the development system for testing.

mame -debug in this case serves as "ersatz" black box.

I saw that the unreleased Atari "Tube Chase" arcade game's sources (and possibly binaries) have been found (tube-chase-main.zip). AFAIK this used "Asteroids" vector hardware (I don't know how modified, it seems to use colour proms). Can anybody assemble/link them into proper roms and try them on an Asteroids emulator?

Video Game History: 1982 30 Minutes segment Part 2:

What contraption is this apparatus (minute 3:15, detail at 3:25) the technician is running Asteroids on? It looks quite analogue. Was this a game development system or just a servicing testbench for vector monitor adjustment?

It's an Atari CTS-1 Testbench / Repair Station. There's plenty of info on the net if you search.
