So, I'm currently running MAME with SDL 2.28. Everything seems to be working okay, but I noticed that the latest version (as I type this)is 2.30.1. I downloaded the newest version, and attemped to install it, but upon doing so, the next time I attempted to launch MAME, a dialog box informed me that SDL Framework could not be opened because Apple could not check it for malware...

Has anyone else run into this problem, and is there a simple workaround?

I've reverted back to SDL 2.28, and all is once again well...

Yeah 2.30.1 was causing problem for me as well. I just went back to a previous version. Don't know of any workarounds for the newest version.

Fair enough... Thank you... I was afraid I was doing something wrong...

Is this something that needs to be reported?

Any updates on this issue? I'm on SDL2-2.28.3 and don't want to update if I shouldn't.

I haven't been able to figure out how to get it to not work so I can figure out how I got it to work, if that makes any sense.

I downloaded version 2.30.3 and and when I tried to run MAME I got the SDL couldn't be opened blah blah message. So I went into Settings-> Privacy & Security and there was an option to allow SDL open/run anyway. Did that and it works.

That did the trick! laugh

Just in case there's any confusion, once the new SDL is installed in Library/Frameworks, go to System Settings -> Privacy & Security, and scroll down to the 'Security' section. There you may see a warning about SDL not being able to run. Click on the 'Allow Anyway' button, and then run MAME. You will then be presented with a one time dialog box, informing you that SDL cannot be opened, blah blah blah... Click the 'Open' button, and all should be well from there...
