I'm just wondering which newsreaders you people are using for all of your MacMAME related activities. I'm totally new to this whole newsreader thing, but have now decided that it's time to learn. Please share.

Unison.

Not free but a well designed piece of software IMO.

Well, I use Thoth (best newsreader... EVER!) but that has since been discontinued . It is/was pretty powerful and had registered it like 5 months before that happened. You can still find it online but you wont be able to register it or get support. The one closest to it was MT-NewsWatcher . That's free.

I used MT-NewsWatcher for a while, and found it okay to use. Never tried Unison though so can't compare.

MT-Newswatcher. Works pretty well, but frankly since getting Limewire I've not felt the need...pity my ISP has a crap news server...

Google Groups. It's easier than trying to get my ISP to carry newsgroups.

My vote for MacSOUP... the best newsreader imho... takes some time to get used to, but very nice to work with...

Oh, people use it for other things than reading text newsgroups? Really? In that case I usually use Thoth (RIP) and if I have to Unison...

I must be missing something with Unison. I'm hitting usenet for both binaries AND text/messages in various newsgroups (comp.sys.mac.*, misc.activism.progressive, pets, etc). Unison seemed to me to want to always download and create thumbnails for any binary pictures in a group and otherwise make assumptions about what you want to do.

I'm currently using Thoth having come from MT-Newswatcher back in my OS9 days and am wondering what Unison could possibly do better besides a 'gee whiz' interface? Don't get me wrong.. I generally LOVE Panics products, but guess I haven't given this enough of a chance.
