One of our senior members, Mr. VitaFlo, has created an impressive multi-emu G4 console box! Check it out here...

...the front-end set-up for the emus looks fantastic... HOW did Mr. Flo do it???

Yes very nice looking indeed! (Further down the page he says the frontend is MAMEWAH with a custom skin he made).

It's not MameWah actually, that's what I used on my MAME Arcade cab. But I wanted something that acted like what I had setup on my arcade, so I recreated it in Firefox using DHTML (I'm a web designer, it's what I know wink . It actually works really well, works just like MameWah on Windows actually.

There are more pictures of it in action here:

Wow... that's all I have to say. What a coincidence since I just moved and during the unpacking I came across my old NES, SNES, Genesis and my prized possession the Sega CD. So I hooked them all up and was playing some old games and began dreaming about an all-in-one box that could emulate all of the old console games... lo and behold you've already done it! Excellent... smile Kudos my friend... I am indeed insanely jealous.

SO you say you have 2 player action on the way as well? And you just use a PS controller mapped for the different systems? And how do you output from the G4 to the TV?

Great now I'll be thinking about this all day. wink

That was sort of the reason I made this. I have about 18 gaming consoles, and my TV area was getting a little tight. wink

2 Player isn't actually working yet, there's a few problems with that, that I have yet to work out, but one player works great the the moment, and yes, it's just a PS2 controller mapped for the different systems. It works really well. Actually, given the fact that Bannister does most of the emu's, the setup with Emulation Enhancer is quite awesome. Some of the emu's are a little funky with the way it's set up (Handy, Snes9x, Stella) but overall it's pretty seamless.

The video output is just S-Video out to TV. I'm using an ATI 8500, and it works pretty well. I did a bunch of comparisons of some of the original systems and the Emulated versions via S-Video and the latter actually look better than the originals!

Nice. I am indeed jealous and curious. What speed G4 do you need to make all of your emus run at 100%? BTW and OT of this OT, do you have a Sega CD?

The box is a 1.1 Ghz G4. Actually, I upgraded a 450Mhz G4 to 1.1 Ghz with a CPU upgrade. Runs great.

I have a Genesis, but no Sega CD. If ya wanna see my console colection I have it online here .

Pure niceness. There's just something so swell about having the emu thing hooked up to the old boob tube rather then a computer monitor.

Can I come over and play Combat after school? wink

That is extremely excellent!

I was thinking about doing something similar to this soon with a PC (since it's cheaper for me to get) and stuffing it inside an old NES front loader casing.

I just upgraded my mac from a g4/400mhz to a 1ghz machine and it does work great, though I haven't really tried any emulators with it yet. I'm still getting adjusted to OS X. Now I just need a video card upgrade.
