Are the CHD games working with this release? In the past, I stupidly used the CHDMAN on them without duplicating them first and screwed up several of them. I ended up having to re-download them from the site that still does not exist (and hasn't for a very long time). Anyway, I have the roms in the ROMS folder and the CHDs in the Hard Disk Images folder. I tried loading Carnevil and SF Rush. Neither of these works.

They don't work. I thought I had Simpsons Bowling going but it had errors at the end of boot up.

I'm a little confused with the chd files. When launching a game that requires one, it says it can't find the particular .chd file. Does that mean it isn't being found, or is it invalid? When using the mini-audit view in mame, it also says it can't find the particular .chd file. Are my images bad?

If the CHD file was invalid, MacMAME would encounter an error saying the checksum didn't pass. In your case it sounds like the files are not being found at all so make sure the "Hard Disk Images" folder is in your home/Documents/MacMAME/ folder.

Very important! the chd has to be inside another folder. For example, area51.chd should be inside a folder called "area51" inside the "Hard Disk Images" folder inside your Documents/MacMAME/ folder.

I can play Area 51, Wedding Rhapsody, Crypt Killer and Killer Instinct (really slow, it just takes a very long time to start). The Beatmania games boot but I can't get any of them past the test screen, same goes for Simpsons Bowling, they get stuck before the game can start.

Mace and Biofreaks actually crash MacMAME for me, here is a log:

Are you using OpenGL for the Beatmania games? Using the software rendering, these games take a long time to boot. They go way faster using OpenGL.

edit - will try the Ok'ed ones from the wiki, but I am sure at least a few of them exit stage left too..

Read the FAQ. Simpsons Bowling requires you to initialize it's Flash ROMs manually. You do that by holding down F2 until it says "INITIALIZING EEPROM".

Beatmania takes several minutes to start up even at 100% speed. That's normal.

Mace and Biofreaks don't work because the DCS Sound System is broken on MacMAME (see also mk3 not having sound).
