I suppose this question is aimed primarily at R. Belmont or anyone else whos privy to decisions made on the PC side. So here it is:

Would it be unrealistic to expect support for all NeoGeo titles through 2002 sometime this year?

Thanks in adavance for any info.

In general if the general public is quiet about it Haze will gradually turn them on. From the looks of things the general ludicrous hysteria that usually surrounds all things NeoGeo has moved on to PGM, so the odds currently look decent.

Well, if what SNK-Playmore says is true, the NeoGeo is effectively dead now. They're still going to be selling it for a while, but it could well be dead for good by 2006.

Of course, now you've started on the PGM, which is so NeoGeo-like was it was even made to counter it (if what I hear is right). Are you sure it's a good idea to start moving on a platform that's still supported? The nasty encryption will slow things, but bootlegs could happen...

This is entirely the wrong place to have this discussion, but PGM in the 2-piece mobo+cartridge version is dead.

Yeah, so I'll finish this tangent here.

Funnily enough, I was thinking "I hope IGS drops the PGM soon. Then that neat looking Demon Front will become fair game that much quicker."

Guess I got my wish. With no new games and the Atomiswave coming up, the PGM probably won't last long. It won't make the encryption problems go away, but it's always better to be emulating a dead system rather than a new one.

I still don't understand what PGS is - that web link isn't too informative! Is it a commercial arcade box like the NeoGeo, or an emulator of NeoGeo or other games, or something entirely different?

The PGM (PolyGameMaster) is like the NeoGeo, except it's not.

What it has in common is that it uses a 68000, like the NeoGeo.

What it doesn't is that the video system is different, the resolution is different, the sound system is totally different, the CPU is a fair bit faster, it doesn't have any Z80s, and the encryption is totally different and a lot harder to crack.

Actually, it does have a Z80 driving the ICS2115.

In plain English, PGM is like NeoGeo (there's even similar games on both) with better graphics and sound.
