I tried playing with it a bit, but it's always crashing. I tried running it under 32 and 64 bit modes, nothing is working. A bug in ZiNc or am I just not configuring something right? It worked fine on my old PC (Linux x86-32, Athlon TB, GeForce 2), and also works fine on my brother's PC (Linux x86-64, Sempron 64, Radeon 9700).

The released ZiNc is not compatible with the NX (no execute) capability of recent CPUs. This will be fixed next version, and there's some kernel parameter you can use to turn it off that I don't remember now.

Ah okay, thanks for the info. Doing some dynamic recompilation?
Also weird that I setup my brother's PC and he basically has everything the same as mine, except different modules/drivers for his hardware, I wonder why his NX is disabled.

Yup, exactly (on the dynamic recompilation).

Only very recent distros/kernels turn it on in my experience, so if he's not bleeding-edge that may be why.

One thing I wanted to point out, since I'm not sure what you're currently doing or plan to do with the next version.

However, at runtime it doesn't seem to check current directory to find the shared object file, and requires moving them to lib directory or adding a path.

Ever though of adding -R. to the link command? That should make run time shared objects loading check the current directory.

We call dlopen() directly - will that actually work?

I haven't actually tried it personally, but I read about it once in a Solaris development book, and there it said it'll work as long as what you pass dlopen() contains no '/'.

If you're using gcc or g++ to link, pass it "-Wl, -R." so it'll pass -R. onto ld, see if that works for you.
