such database must takes loads of spaces in the emulator. it's a bad idea especially since goodnames aren't that accurate

I'm not sure if the names are stored at all.

Theres an 88k file containing the names of bios roms, but I couldn't find any database of game roms. I think it might use an algorythm.

In my software folder I have 6 SNP files from the Wsorcerer emulator. The format is not usable by MESS (unfortunately) but they each had a goodname showing in the picker!!

I think they are stored in .hsi files in "hash" subdirectory.
It's about 18,5 Mo.

and the files are plain-text, so they compress like mad.

Didn't think of looking there. But it means they are not compiled into the emulator, but can be modified by anyone anytime.

I looked into exidy.hsi - and the 6 SNP's are there.

The HSI files are not compiled into the emulator.

With my No-Intro friends we will discuss about writing No-Intro version of those hsi files

I have checked the snes.hsi and it has all the hacked / PD and trashy stuffs of the goodsnes... =/ Their arcade counterpart would never be included in MAME. So it's natural for No-Intro to be the project of reference for MESS.

For those who wouldn't yet know about the No-Intro project, google it or check my profile link.

Actually, GoodTools are most logical, since Cowering hosts the CVS server smile

The Good dumps need to be revised so none of them are trainer/cracktro/etc then.

I still think Cowering is the #1 reason console emulation sucks, incidentally.
