I can't believe 1997 was 10 years ago!
I started out with Mame version 2 on DOS..it only could do a couple games, but I remember how fun it was to watch the WIP to see what games would be added to the list.
My first MacMAME was v25 and the ROMS were in a super-ROM package. I had the whole set on 12 floppy discs.
I was a lucky enough to have a PowerMac 7500 back then because I was a drinking-buddy with the I.T. guys at work ; ) I've gotten a lot of free stuff from work...

I think successfully playing TMNT on VSWC was my Mac emulation moment of Zen. I started getting into emulators after discovering John Stile's homepage back in 96. On a 7500 at the time as well. I think its amazing how slow MAME has become due to different factors. Its for the better, but I remember that by the time the last classic version of mame came out, the 7500 couldn't even keep up with Gyruss anymore...

VSWC != VSMC AFAIK the last version of VSWC on the Mac had a silly BeBox-esque interface because that was what I was in to at the time... I'll have to see if I can't resurrect the code and see what state its in.

Lou,
Yes. SDLMame and Mame OS X both blow Macmame out of the water at this point.
