btw I'm assuming the Sensible Soccer Radica unit doesn't actually have the battery backup ram for saving edited team names etc., because it seems like the type of thing Radica wouldn't bother with, but if I'm wrong and it should be there, let me knwow.

There is a 6264 SRAM on the PCB, so it could have.

to which Peter has said, yeah, he'll look at it with me, but it might be next year before it gets done, because we already have a backlog of about 4 projects :-)
that said, I think it's the most effective way of dealing with it because it means we don't have to decap, don't have to try and scribble down random symbols from the screen based on hacked code and little understanding of the video hardware, and we get 100% correct data because we read it electronically by modifying the code execution. Fantastic, yeah everything works, fully boxed and I have some dupe carts that didn't need to go to the guru to be dumped, those are boxed too, I'll even throw in some rolls of unused stickers for the printer. I don't need it back despite it all being complete and boxed, you can keep it to do whatever after its dumped. It'll be a few weeks before I box it up. Edit: So this is where Radica got that odd Outrun controller. And another Golden Tee Golf Plug & Play (Said to be Generalplus GPAC800)

There is a 6264 SRAM on the PCB, so it could have. hmm that is the riight size according to the sensi cart notes we have (even if the software list has it as double, but that might be an 8-bit/16-bit mapping thing) maybe Radica really did do a good job on this one, it's an impressive collection of games too. I'll add the SRAM then.

There's no mention of the feature on the packaging, as a selling point, they do however have something taped over/changed: https://i.imgur.com/NFcCIsr.jpg

If it doesn't have a battery, then SRAM is, well, simply SRAM :P It needs power for it to retain the contents.

the devices are battery operated... (you can plug in an AC adapter on some of them tho)
they could be simply using that battery power I guess tho?

It's possible, but I think unlikely to use the same power source for battery-backed ram. Maybe Sean can test the VCC pin of the 6264 on power-off to be sure.

A lot of these operate *only* on batteries, so it would make sense for the battery to power the SRAM.

I'm also wondering if it explains why the banking was slightly different here, maybe it uses the low bit to mean 'disable sram' instead of bank.
