I just downloaded mame os x, but I honestly need just need some help and directions. I downloaded two different roms, they are both in .zip format and put them in the Roms folder in the directory, but I still can't seem to get it to work.

Well, the obvious questions:

1. Have you read the instructions?
2. What version of MAME OS X are we talking about?
3. Are the ROMs coming up as good when you run an audit?
4. Is there anything in the log (launch Console, select File->Open and look for MAME OS X in ~/Library/Logs/Crash Reporter)?

Hopefully in the course of this you will resolve the issue yourself or at least give us something to go on in figuring out your issue.

put roms in the folder thats in you documents folder labeled Mame User Data/Roms . Then audit the game if you want. If not just double click on the name of the file when it comes up in the mame gui screen. also you might need a chd file. i'd check the instructions on the web site bro.
