There is no ISO filesystem on SGI CDs, they're all efs. They should still work just fine with MAME though, since MAME doesn't really care about the filesystem on the CD

When we say iso, we actually mean pure 2048-bytes sector dump. The filesystem encoding is not looked at.

The install cd we tend to use is 812-0336-001. https://archive.org/details/sgi_IRIX_5.3_for_Indy_R4400_175MHz

The SGI CDs with a .img extension segfault for me as well but renaming the *.img files to *.iso fixes that and allows me to use the images without any other issues.

Indeed, renaming the file to .iso works. That seems like a bug. It still thinks it's a cdrom, but dies with a null pointer in read_partial_sector().

ISO files have no magic numbers or other identifiable characteristics, so we have to rely on the user telling us what the file is.

I've hooked up the controller ports to the Coleco Game Adaptor for the Spectravideo SVI-328 computer, so the games are now playable:

There is an MSX Game Adaptor too, but we don't have a ROM dump for it.

Work on emulating the SGI Indy's 8-bit XL graphics board continues.

Yesterday, I hooked up the pixel DMA IRQ so that it no longer has to wait to time out after each pixel DMA transfer before starting the next one. As a result, the IRIX desktop paints almost immediately rather than taking upwards of 30 seconds of real time to draw.

Today, I managed to get dithering, shading, and the 4bpp RGB framebuffer mode working, with the following results:

Fixed a few things, including block copies of non-RGB/CI planes. In particular, this fixes pop-up menus in IRIX 5.3:
