Well, I have published the first "version" of SDLMESS this weekend! But only for my arch i386...

Next steps are package corrections and port to amd64 (for SDLMAME too). Corrections will come from natural package usage; But I don't have any amd64 platform at home or even at my work... I'm then looking at cross compilation methods but it's a new field for me, not sure to reach the end. There are several ways to achieve it and I would prefer having a long term solution more than a fast "gadget" method.

If I can do it some day, it would be nice to have beta testers wink

Congrats.

Nice to hear AMD64 port is being considered. I'd offer to help but the only time I tried packaging an app for Debian, I just couldn't get it to work. It included the appropriate binary files but omitted all the required config files. smirk

Certainly happy to test it out for you, if you do get a package working, tho!

Sam.

Calling it a port is not quite right since primary development of SDLMAME/SDLMESS is on 64-bit Fedora :-)

You got me (us) there. I currently compile SDLMAME/SDLMESS from source on my Debian AMD64 machine and they both work like a charm. smile

In fact, I used the latter just last night to try out a couple of bits of Oric software. After the initial fiddle of trying to work out how to load disk images, I discovered that editing the sysinfo part of the wiki is open to regular users, so I added a note to the Oric 1 entry on how to load disk images. I'll try and do that for any other drivers I try out that don't already have instructions ...

Sam.

Will do - just added entries for loading cassette and disc images on the Acorn BBC Master 128, in fact, which was the one that puzzled me for a long time - it never occurred to me that the CMOS needed resetting every time! smile

That's funny... and a bit weird that I need so much work to build a 64bits version lol! I think it's a part of the Linux magic indeed smile

Yeah, I keep hoping that some version of LSB will actually "stick" and distros will really be compatible.
