I as wondering if their was any emulator for the original version of Tetris that Alexey Pajitnov created on the Elektronika 60? I have not been able to find out much about the Elektronika 60 or an emulator. Has anybody looked into this on MESS?

I think Micko has a partial driver in for that but it's not working yet.

Well Elektronika 60 is not emulated. From all data up to now I only have M2 processor command set. No actual ROM of machine or game code. If you have something more please provide.

I can't imagine one of these is going to pop up on Ebay or anything easy. Is there any other way to get a machine? eg computer museum or something to that effect.

Despite my lack of Tetris skills this seems like a worthy machine to try and emulate (if possible) just based on history of Tetris.

Okay, for Lord_Nightmare at least: I can confirm Tetris is alive and well as of 2008 sometime. And this is regardless of any looking into it I've done recently.

Looks like a different font, not to mention it was translated into English, but it's still running on an actual Elektronika 60 I presume.

Well, the English does signify a different version. The font which you speak is due to an innacuracy in the emulation.

You see, it's not really emulation in the screenshot I showed, it's simulation. Doesn't use the official BIOS rom or anything, so I expect that yes, the font would be different.

My point in posting was actually that the original game seems to have been archived. I was concerned that it wasn't.

I'm told that pretty much the only thing still needed to get this started is a BIOS dump, but no one interested has a machine to dump it from.

I was aimlessly clicking through some Russian sites when I came across Sergei Frolov. Seems like a cool guy with his own Elektronika 60 and even his own computer museum. Looking around there it appears the BBC Documentary wasn't showing an Elektronika 60 but instead a DVK-3M or something similar to it. It's another DEC PDP-11 compatible computer so it seems reasonable enough.

Is that a new lead or am I treading old ground?

Wouldn't it be easier to start with PDP-11 emulation? Boot ROMs for various PDP-11 systems are readily available via Google.
