Yeah, it would be. I always forget MESS doesn't have that, I often confuse the PDP-1 and PDP-11 (having never used either). Heh.

Is it a new lead? I've been to that network of livejournals, but I hadn't seen that particular thread yet. Well, we could see if he has the BIOS dumped.

MAME/MESS effectively does have a pdp-11 cpu core: the T11 processor which paperboy uses. It isn't a COMPLETE pdp-11 core though, as its missing a few opcodes which weren't economical for DEC to support in the T11.

You're absolutely right, both of you. I haven't heard anything new about Galaxy Game since 2006 though.

I got a printout of the Galaxy Game source code (would link, but mameworld.info's down). As for an actual dump, there's one at the Computer History Museum, but I don't know if anyone's actually tried to get access to it.
I haven't heard of anyone working on emulation, but if we get PDP-11 emulation going, it would be a great start.

The T-11 core in MAME (used on atari system 2 arcade games like paperboy and super sprint) is a cut down pdp-11 cpu core. (at some point we should get the microcode from the T-11 dumped)

Here's a whole lot of rt-11 games, including several versions of Tetris. https://www.sendspace.com/file/4pw39vMany of these won't run on a PDP-11 -- they were written for clones with framebuffers. For extra authenticity you'll probably want a terminal which was used with these systems, or its emulation ('15ie' driver in MESS SVN). There's much more to be said on the subject, ask away :-)

There's now a driver for KSM (text-only video board from DVK desktops, emulates a VT52 with a few extensions), it should work with any pdp-11 emulator over network. Driver name is "dvk_ksm". Here's a version of Tetris (not original one) running in SIMH, with display in MESS: Emulating actual DVK series would require changes to T11 core -- their microprocessors (1801VM1, 1801VM2 and 1801VM3) are ISA-compatible but have subtle differences.
