Tons of bugs fixed in this version - thanks to everyone who reported stuff here and on Fujix's board.

Changes include:
* Fixed major bug where songs with fixed volumes in the list file would break normalization until the app was restarted
* Fixed years on Ridge Racer series, Matrimelee, and Final Romance 4
* Fixed manufacturer on Ace Attacker
* Fixed clipping on blswhstl
* Fixed ROM loading in shdancer (crashed in Linux, bad playback on Windows)
* Fixed parent/clone relationships for missb2, cottonj, gt3dv18, and tp2m32
* Added Final Lap R, Ghost Lop, Jockey Grand Prix, V-Liner, Dimahoo, and Progear
* Fixed command format for vs2v991 (now can select all songs)
* Fixed startup delay for the Parodius, GX400, and Double Dribble drivers so the first song plays properly
* Reduced PSG volume in Space Harrier and Hang-On
* Updated IREM CPU decryption for the M92 driver to latest from MAME, should fix some small issues with those games.
* Reduced startup time of IREM M72/81/83/97/99 driver substantially
* Rebalanced IREM M72/81/83/97/99 driver to reduce DAC pop when changing songs
* Fixed -r sample rate switch in command line M1 to work properly
* Fixed SCSP drivers to work at sample rates other than 44100
* (Linux) Changed ALSA driver to hopefully be more compatible

thx for update.

some days ago, I found a bug in M1 0.7.6 for Windows
and 0.7.7 still has it.

-w option outputs a illegal RIFF format.
in 0x28~0x2b, it means 'data' chunk's body size.
but actual sizes are 8 bytes more than described size.

for example: M1 outputs a .WAV file 0x6bad4 bytes length.

Amazing work again, Richter. Wrong dates depend on M1 or is it responsability of Bridge? Tekken Tag date is 1999, not 1995 and Figting Layer date is 1998, not 1995.

Could you add Libero Grande in next version please?

Keep giving us your great work!

What about the Requests topic? :p

I hope this isn't too O/T but, heck. What else is there to say other than Great work Mr. B... cool

I remember asking about a list for 'Manx TT' and I'm pretty sure I DL'ed the most recent List file from E2J. But it doesn't appear to be in there. :bemused:

...and I'm so tempted to make a skin for Bridge. Hope it's idiot proof. Lord knows this forum isn't. I'm proof of that. laugh

Wrong dates are always M1's fault. I've fixed all the System 12 games for the next version.

Tom: I have the latest lists and there definitely isn't anything for Manx TT.

Great to see new lists, I figured if 3 M1 updates didn't get people making them again nothing would ;-)

BTW, minor correction for the English version of tmnt2 I keep forgetting: "sead" should be "seed" (in the line "maybe a sead from the parrot").

Also, how is it that people are making lists (complete with song numbers) for games that don't remotely exist in M1 (example: cgangpzl)? :-)

Game soundtrack, debug build of MAME, and a lot of optimism?

Thanks for the list update!

I think 0.7.8's going to come sooner than I'd planned - Cync (the Japanese programmer who fixed up the System 12 sound) just worked the same magic on the Super System 22 sound in MAME. M1 with his changes sounds better than the Viva Nonno HLE code, and there's no longer missing songs. Prop Cycle in particular has some really tasty ambient tracks now.

Hmm, -s1 still does not work as expected:
Quote:
ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:811:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to open slave
ALSA: unable to open default soundcard (/dev/snd/*). Check permissions!
[jsikorski@DOMOWY ~]$
I am the owner and the files have permissions set to 600. Maybe there should be a switch to choose the device? I use !default here.

Ooh. I can successfully patch most of the other games using the Viva driver to use real emulation with Prop Cycle's BIOS. It's gonna play havoc on parent/clone relationships relative to MAME, but what the heck, right?

Thanks RB for checking my Engrish wink I've fixed the list.

I guess the author has real PCB and OSTs, and used the sound test mode to compose these .lsts.
He is the same person who made the list for The Outfoxies.

If they're trying to tell me "we know how to play music standalone in this game" I wish they'd just PM some code or something wink

So what was the situation with the Cruis'n USA bug that I reported? There are six radio stations to choose from in the game, and only five of them play in the newest M1. The sixth, which sounds a little like an Elvis song, was playable in the previous M1 (0.7.3).

What's the song number in 0.7.3? I noticed that the Crusin' games apparently only had songs on even numbered commands, so I made that The Law in 0.7.7.

slipstrm's Z80 ROM is currently a bad dump - it has no sound in MAME.

smgp is "special" and may take years to get to work (it never worked properly in AMUSE either - the communications with the main CPU seems to be stricter than normal).

The other games I can take a look at.

Slipstream sounds fine in MAME 0.98u4. It doesn't work in 0.99u6 though.

Every ROM in that dump was marked bad at one time or another. :p Lack of hardware understanding is what prevented it from working. The sound dump is just fine. I broke the FM in u6, but it should be back in u7.

Well, some version of the dump distinctly came up as garbage in IDA Pro and crashed M1 when I tried to execute it. =)

It runs in interrupt mode 2, which means you have to put the interrupt vector on the "bus" in order to jump to the correct location. There's an interrupt table in ROM somewhere, which is pointed to by the I register. If you just jump to $38 on an interrupt, you'll jump into garbage code.

Aaron, while you're here, is there anything weird and funky that roadblasters does with the sound code at all?
M1 misses quite a few sounds and it only plays sounds every other address, RB couldnt find anything obvious when he looked and Im pretty certain that stuff is missing, any ideas?

Nothing that I know of, but then again, I never really studied the sound communication part too closely. Are there sounds in test mode that aren't working in M1?

I've looked and I cant find anywhere to play the sounds in the test mode...

*EDIT* Ok, the sounds that it's missing are the tracks that are triggered as you cross the finishing line, you get the plinkity plinkity bit as you approach the finishing line but Im assuming theres some sort of trigger that fires when you cross the finishing line that makes it jump to somewhere else to play the "DADARNNNNNN" bit etc..

M1 doesnt have any of the "DADARNNNNNNN" bits in it (there's a few different ones)

I realized you added Beastorizer and Bloody Roar 2, so does this mean music for these games in next Zinc? System Super 22 improvements by Cync (coincidence is almost the same than Zinc?) help with System 11 too. No more Viva Nonno HLE driver?

Thanks again for your effort.

I'm just imagining Aaron trying to figure out what "plinkity plinkity" and "DADARNNNNNN" mean. I'm envisioning the best Channel 9/MSDN video ever though...

M1 and ZiNc are very different codebases. You can look directly at M1 without special glasses and avoid insanity, for instance.

ETA: I might replace the sys11player.dll with a version of m1.dll though ;-) Real emulation is doing wonders for some of the System 11 games - Dunk Mania is missing all music with the HLE, but it's present and fun-kay with the emulation. And Xevious 3D+g went from mono music with occasional stereo to a very full-sounding stereo mix smile

Has anyone looked at Alien Syndrome? I'm guessing this is the same problem that was with Shadow Dancer. Or is this known already? Altered Beast seems fine. Except for the accuaracy of the list. laugh

When I listened to it then got to the voices - they were either the wrong sound, or didn't play, and it froze up Bridge-M1. It wouldn't respond so I had to 'kill it' with the Task Manager.

I suppose that's similar to the problem Shadow Dancer had.

And the list... :hmm: It's probably nothing.

edit: oh yeah, the List. That was about Altered Beast and the voices. The 2nd "Dragon" sounds an awful lot like a bear. Bear sounds like a Tiger, and Tiger sounds like a Dragon. :what:

The 16A version (aliensy2) has correct voices.
