Just a bit of trivia and also bumping this thread in the hope of there being some news :-) I now own the CDI 180/18x set displayed here and will shortly be dumping the ROMs. The hardware is 2xVSC+VSR and CDIC but no 68HC05 CD or SLAVE processor so I'm pretty curious... Its a nice device. I wish my CD-i player (Highscreen, OEM version of Philips/Magnavox CDI 450) has a RGB output too.

Although a PDF version exists (at least that's what the licensing office claims to be selling) I've never seen it.
NB. Chapter IX on the Full Motion Video extension is missing from both versions :-( Check out Green Book Version May 1994, Release 2, linked from Wikipedia no less! It is more recent then any version I've seen before and includes chapter IX. More info about this find is on the CD-i Forum here...

Forgive the dated bump - this is the best thread I could find on CDi. Any word on DVC emulation? I understand it won't be in the main branch for previously stated reasons.

We'd like to get the core CD-i emulation more solid before putting in DVC. JD's done some work towards that thanks to dumps of the various microcontrollers, but it's got a long ways to go yet.

The work Haze did today on integrating the 68(7)05 peripherals into the cpu core itself should make a lot of stuff much easier once mature.
The two CD-I MCUs (Slave and CDIC/Servo) communicate using SPI serial, which later 68HC(7)05 mcus can do, and this will make hooking that up a lot simpler.

Except it won't, unless there are existing drivers that already make use of the SPI serial functionality of the 68705. It's not like merging together multiple disparate cores is going to magically conjure up functionality that didn't exist in any of them.

We still need to write an spi core etc, but this makes a more logical place to start doing so than in a driver-specific way. LN

I have my doubts if low-level SLAVE and/or SERVO emulation will improve the complete CD-i emulation, I think the hi-level functions of these chips are pretty well emulated already (both in MAME and CD-I Emulator). But we will see, of course.
On the DVC emulation front, there is concept code in CD-I Emulator but it is nowhere near release quality...
And a late but merry Christmas to you all!
