R. Belmont, can you take a look at it? I'm running M1 0.7.4b. When it shows "Booting Hardware, please wait...", I get a Windows XP message saying that "M1 caused a problem and needs to be shutdown, click here to send a log..."

My ROMsets are up-to-date with MAME 0.83, if that's any important.

Another problem with 1942, when you select music #23 it doesn't stop playing if you select prior musics, and if you select later musics it will play the selected music and then continue to play music #23. Something similar happens to Commando, where you can't hear some musics because prior ones don't stop when you select the next one...

Try the 0.7.5 public beta. And use BridgeM1 with list packs.
