Apple GCC of that era tended to go really berserk after very minor errors. I think the unused pen is already fixed in SVN, else you can just comment it out and things should work.

MAME 0.152 compiles and runs fine on Slackware Linux 14.1.

0.153 compiles and runs fine on Debian Wheezy. Found some interesting news in the changelog: -Added a "-u" (for unix) flag to srcclean to produce unix-style endings. Does this mean we (Linux users) won't need RB's file endings trick any more? Well, I tried building the source offhand and it finished without nagging. Thank you so much for another stable release!
