with latest release i can't use the messui for .d64 disk

with a clean compile

make TARGET=MESS OSD=winui

Yes debug build is currently big issue for MESSUI, thing is that there are some memory leaks which breaks in debug since new memory management mechanism used from U1 code. But code is not so easy to trace. Also x64 debug build is more "forgiving" so you can use it also without a problem.

I'm not running DEBUG=1 or -debug. I'm willing to believe it's a 32/64 bit issue though.

You can start 8KB games.
Try following:

Start as example the game " amidar "
Press the key " S " and hold the key.
Now make a reset (control>reset)
The game start now.
