note to myself: when I test (variable & 8), I get 0 or 8, not 0 or 1 (as if they're boolean). too bad the mistake was a 1-line problem in a very large set of changes, so it went unnoticed when I double-checked rev.7549. of course, now that I was looking for vertical issues, it hit me immediately Fixing this silly mistake, I was able to get the following improvements (left = broken, right = fixed) (Ardy Lightfoot) (Tin Star) of course, both games have now definitely better ingame graphics as well and I'd expect Romancing Saga to be fine too

btw, some of Kale's changes before 7725 also fixed R-Type 3 glitching graphics in later demo loops
and in current svn, also the brown solid rectangles covering text in TMNT intro screens are gone
If I have time this weekend, I will go through the bug list again to remove fixed entries

I often use result = data & 0x08, etc. It will do 0->1 if result is of type bool. Hooray implicit casting. Have to be careful, Java / Ruby doesn't have this implicit casting, and some may not be aware of it.
But it beats the hell out of: result = (bool)(data & 0x08); Or the more terse: result = !!(data & 0x08);

Shinri Game, The - Akuma no Kokoroji (J) - might be an issue with title - is it supposed to be rain/mist? <- I think this is an issue with DMA / HDMA, text is missing after the title screen, and I'm aware that's controlled by HDMA too.

one thing we currently don't emulate is the fact that if HDMA is enabled in a channel, then it disable the DMA.
maybe it's not related, but...
EDIT: SimCity fixed and Final Fight (J) logo improved. they had some problem with sprites going from top to bottom. I hope we now handle all the cases properly...

Black Screen or Hang -------------------- Pop'n Twinbee (J) (Sample) [!] This is a plain bad dump, dumped as hirom when it's actually a lorom (and BSNES wasn't working with it either). Thanks to Cowering to spot this out.

SNES gamelist (soon to be added by judge) is based on the dumps nointro guys have verified.
we will have to add pirate titles and to add manufacturers and years, but at least we will avoid bad dumps which might affect the bug reporting (nointro is the most up-to-date collection for many consoles)
