r7766 /src/mame/machine/snes.c: [SNES]: Fixed a bug with un-inited DMA regs, fixes at least a long-standing bug with Super Soccer dimmed team selection screen

[Linked Image from mamedev.emulab.it]

It does:

8f90: lda 420c <- open bus read, A = 0x42 ...
8f93: and $fb
8f95: sta 420c <- ... hence it enables HDMA channels 1 and 6, channel six is uninitialized and it was writing shit to the INIDISP register

Is it normal that anything that doesn't work in the SNES driver is actually caused by HW bugs rather than missing features? --"

well, given our video code is now quite faithful to bsnes' video, that's quite reasonable because most features are correctly implemented wink

in the weekend I shall be able to work on the vertical mosaic as well. that might solve SimEarth problems

Are you going to implement the cycle-based PPU renderer? smile

Not even sure if I want to enable that thing publicly for official builds ...

I meant *faithful to bsnes 0.062* wink

but no way I start to even only think about cycle base renderer until we have cycle-perfect sync in everything else... it would be pointless. frown

Plus currently Desert Fighter is also broken, so I don't know how much sense a cycle-based PPU could be at the current time. :P

Congratulations Kale!!! From my point of view, the SNES driver is better than ever! Of course it still has some flaws, but the recent improvements are exciting.

I don't know if it's the proper time to start reporting bugs in games, or do I have to wait you to finish your coding to start reporting?

You can report anything you want now. Just make sure it isn't reported here
