Thanks for the responce etabeta. I will try and track down some colour software that runs under v.6

[/quote]

how did you unpack the 6.0.8 floppies? are you under windows?

I am working in Window 7 and use the 4x800k .dsk version of 6.0.8 I found somewhere.

What i did was make copy of the bootable Mac Plus .chd i created with 6.0.8 and used that to start the Mac IIcx. Once i did that i re-initialised the Mac Plus .chd as a Mac IIcx.

In the DIP switches to not use HDCx ports ?

I changed the code to do that but there are screenshots of colorpaint working on a pcjr with an internal disk drive. Looking at the code I am not sure how that could work.

I tried r7781 but I am still not able to get ColorPaint or Lotus 123 (2 carts) working.

It seems both ColorPaint and Lotus 1-2-3 are suffering from emulation problems.

To boot ColorPaint mount the cartridge and boot in DOS (version 2.1 - 3.3 oughta work) and type 'G'.

To boot Lotus 1-2-3 mount both cartridges and boot in DOS (version 2.1 - 3.3 oughta work) and type 'TUTOR'.

ColorPaint breaks quite badly; Lotus displays something but is not fully working.

I am not sure if the breaking I saw was caused by using an incorrect DOS version.

I tried a few games and so on.

The floppy disks run so slowly that it is impossible to get anything done. Kings Quest takes about 10 minutes to boot, and the controls are quite tardy (to put it mildly). Touchdown runs eventually, after waiting a long time.

As for carts, I don't have a DOS cart or floppy, so can't try what you've suggested above. The game called RIVER has no steering controls, either it goes straight ahead, or it veers straight into the left bank.

I have one more floppy called EXPLPCJR.IMG, but it only gives a black screen. After looking inside, i found it is a tutor for the computer (Exploring your IBM Personal Computer).

Floppy loading can be accelerated by pressing Insert. By the way, maybe you are using the IBM PC version of the game, there was a PCJr. version which loads (a bit) faster.

for river, I think it only work with joysticks, and those are busted (I suggest keyboard controls for the time being, in the games which allow you to select them)
