I wanted to prepare some material on the usage of software lists last weekend, but I ran out of time. Maybe next weekend ...

Thanks for your help etabeta and robbert, I think i have this hash thing working now.

I have been using the Tosec files and it appears that many of the hash files are not based on that set. After further experimentation i have found that the files i have for aquarius and a800 give the expected results in messui.

Others like the the Tosec a7800 files dont match at all with the a7800.hsi.

It strikes me from what i have read on the xml list's that they will supercede the hash file system, is this right?

Yes, that's right. They are still under heavy development though.

SVN r7804
SCV (Epoch Super Cassette Vision) driver

Can it be, some color problems with some carts exist or the colors on new SVN build are correct ?

Example: Nebula

SVN r7804

I'm glad to see some progress on the VideoBrain driver. I noticed that the software list comments on undumped games don't separate out the rumored ones. I suspect the rumored carts were advertised, but never actually released. Here's a list of undumped carts that have and haven't been seen:

Released--

APL/S The Computational Language
VB-81 Financier
VB-1000 Money Minder
CM01 Timeshare
ST01 Demonstration

Rumored--

EN07 Challenge Racer
EN08 Music Programmer
EN09 Programmable Football
EN10 Computer Life
ED07 Musicianship 1
ED08 Number Cross
ED09 Historical Simulation: France in the Old Regime
VB-59 The Programmable (same as APL/S?)
VB-1100 Budget System
VB-1200 Information Manager

The SVN colors are correct. They are also closer to the colors as displayed on flyers for the games.

Hi Anna.

In my research for that console, I learned that the RF connector of the japanese SCV really change the balance of colors. You can also use the RGB outs in japan, but if i understand correctly, few did. While in france (YENO brand console), _only_ the RBG signal was transmitted on the SCART connector, and its what im using.

Some people use modified eSCV emu with different color schemes if I understand correclty (its hard with approximate japanese->english translation).

Anyhow, the current colors in MESS match what I get on my french console with RGB outs. And the new colors in SVN come from voltmeter checks that i've done myself on the truncated scart output pins.

If you can watch nicovideo

(Japanese console with RGB outs)

Wow. Given that no artifact colors are involved that's a pretty significant change.
