I think you'll find that that is exactly what SteveMartin is proposing.

The fact of the matter is that "Boomzoo" is in English and what is shown on the title screen. Therefore, the game's English title is Boomzoo, regardless of whatever the Chinese words mean. Period.

Calm down man, they're just titles. I wasn't aware it's such a big issue to people.

Whatever the case, I'm sure you guys can figure out the best way to name them, I personally don't want to go any further since it seems like this is gonna turn into some naming politics issue or something. I'm sure that whatever convention is chosen though, it won't hinder people's understanding at what it is exactly that they're playing.

Still looking forward to more progress on this driver!

r7989 /src/mess/drivers/jaguar.c: [Jaguar]: handled ROM games with header, fixes at least Brutal Sports Football booting

Hangs if you let the Telegames logo to do all of its transition, and gameplay timings looks busted ...

god-damn console rom scene! yeah those headers might have skewed my jaguar compatibility testing a while back.

hopefully we'll see some new test cases now anyway.

Yeah, the no-intro dats are a bit irritating for a similar reason. Some of them use the title from the *box* despite it appearing nowhere in the game. I don't think there is anything wrong with including that as additional information, but it's just confusing when it never actually appears.

As with MAME sometimes the best option is common sense.

and this means we'll have to clean up from headers the roms present in jaguar.xml in addition to nes ones (which I'm working on) and lynx ones...

but nice fix smile

EDIT: I hope my commit did not conflict with any progress of yours, but the code which called image_read there was making softlists crash badly...

Maybe I need a new clean compile.

SVN r7993

Code
C:\Emulator\Mess\SVN\Bin\mess>make TARGET=mess
Compiling src/mess/osd/windows/dialog.c...
cc1plus.exe: warnings being treated as errors
src/mess/osd/windows/dialog.c: In function 'int win_dialog_add_portselect(dialog
_box*, const input_field_config*)':
src/mess/osd/windows/dialog.c:1306: error: unused variable 'height'
src/mess/osd/windows/dialog.c:1307: error: unused variable 'width'
make: *** [obj/windows/mess/mess/osd/windows/dialog.o] Error 1

May bad. Debug builds don't bail out on warnings.
