Well, you are probably right, but I would like to check a few additional things as well via a trojan.

but understanding how it displays the overlay will help if you're going to attempt to dump the rom data to the screen won't it? ;-) (assuming it's internal rom)

Great progress on the Snes driver guys! I tried the latest version from bobz and I'm not sure if this is a regression or if it simply has never worked correctly, but in 'Chaos Seed' the game is supposed to go into a long attract/story sequence after showing the intro and this never happens in mess, it just goes to title sceen and then back to showing nice clouds.

A bug report just for the record ... it's very unlikely that you can test this out wink

(Fushigi no Dungeon 2 - Furai no Shiren ending, can be seen with the inp that I've recently sent on HARP)

I've also noticed some oddness with Final Fantasy V. Goodtools name: Final Fantasy V (J) [T+Eng1.1_RPGe]. Issues:

1) Sprite priorities, perhaps most noticeable when character travels under bridges in castles
2) Numerous other minor graphical problems introduced at some point between .137 and .138.
3) Audio speed-up to 300% (est.) normal speed after playing for a while
4) Will not allow a game to be saved in "slot 4" (ingame slot). Slots 1-3 are ok though.
5) Problems using .138 to load save states made from .137

you already reported it in this same thread. the corruption has been reintroduced by Kale's work on the CPU cycle steal (short after r7740) and the problem is mentioned at

r9421 /src/mame/ (machine/snes.c video/snes.c): [SNES]: Fixed regressed PPU open bus behaviour, fixes background graphics in Super Kick Boxing

http://www.bannister.org/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=52384#Post52384

Deja-vu ... (yes, there are PPU registers that returns MDR instead of PPU Open Bus)
