There is a PStwo, it's just Sony didn't call it that even though everyone else already does :-) (Cue a repeat of the "PSX" argument. Better yet, don't).
Anyway, the "original" PS2 is also still sold AFAIK - Square/Enix would revolt otherwise (FF requires the harddisk).

I imagine they are just clearing stock, but it is a shame about the hard drive. If they'd allowed fitting of a laptop drive even it would have been so sweet. I've never had a console modified, but I'd love to be able to store ps2 games for quicker load times. smf

So just buy one of the "old-style" ones, throw in a mod chip and HDD, and get a boot loader.

I was considering a modded v12... nothing like being able to just pop in whatever you'd like to play and have it boot. The booting from HDD thing is very tempting though, even though I don't like the older models much. I love the design of the new one, so it's a shame they took out the ability for HDD add-on. Hopefully Hong Kong will be able to come up with something eventually.
I thought the YM2610 had only 4 FM voices to the YM2610B's 6, while the SSG/ADPCM layout remained the same.
<3 YM2151! Even into the 90's it was the centerpiece of some great soundtracks, including my personal favorite arcade soundtrack!
There's always something to talk about while waiting for a release :p Or an M1 Targets and To-Do List update, heh.

Yeah, the games NMK did for Jaleco had some underrated YM2151 heroics, notably St. Dragon.

I am, apparently, the only person in the universe who thinks the GC design is arse, its so tall that it wont fit in most hi-fi units and yet still lets you open the lid in a spirited attempting to take all the skin off your fingers every time you change a disc...

Well, yes, most people don't actually play consoles in a hi-fi unit. (I stack mine in an unused space in it and pull them out for actual use - my A/V receiver has front-panel S-Video and audio jacks so it works out great).
