You are doing "make TARGET=mess", right?

It seems

make TARGET=mess compile MESS with drivers

make target=mess compile MAME drivers

So may I have the same problem as before.
If so, I will try robbberts solution.

Have to make a closer test in the next days, because not understand the logic.

First I compiled with :

make target=mess

a lot of MAME drivers was compiled but not finished because

Compile process canceled by hand (but I think megadriv.c relevant sources was right compiled)

Now I compiled with :

make TARGET=mess
(see here )

MESS compile was successful. smile

I started getting this error from 0.138 for some reason. Not to mention that I'd already built a version of WolfMAME 0.138 before that (without any modification first, so that I don't have to wait so long to compile while working on it, my Windows PC is rather old).
So what I did, was simply rename the folder containing the source, and the error disappeared. Just to be sure, I renamed the folder back to what it was, and the error returned. So shortening the name of the folder containing the source might help.

there is something about megadriv.c that current versions of GCC seem to hate, it's so random I assume it's just causing some internal memory corruption. Too many people have reported issues with this specific driver for it to simply be bad ram.

I feel so proud ;-)

does anyone have the same problem compiling latest svn as the auto-build at wiki?

my macbook compiles NES fine and a friend of mine managed to compile MESS on WinXP 32bit without any error.

hence, I'm really clueless about the error reported by MESS wiki... any idea?

No idea - I'm on a similar setup to the autobuilder (gcc (GCC) 4.4.4 20100503 (Red Hat 4.4.4-2)) and 8249 builds fine from clean.
