FM-Towns

The easiest way to modify files on the Harddisk image is to use the DiskExplorer 1.69.

Additional you have to download the file called " unztools040103.zip "

Copy the files
unztools\fmimg2\fmimg2.dll
unztools\fmimg2\fmimg2.ini

in the root of the DiskExplorer folder.
Now you can load/read FMT HD images.

If you have a already created .chd Harddisk image you have to first extract the Harddisk image.

Example: chdman -extract TownsOS_HDD260MB.chd TownsOS_HDD260MB.h0

otherwise it is not readable for the DiskExplorer.

To convert back into .chd format :

Example: chdman -createuncomphd TownsOS_HDD260MB.h0 TownsOS_HDD260MB.chd

Hello Barry,

before I make a description how do create, initialize and format a Harddisk image, are you able to initialize and format a Harddisk image under MS-DOS on MESS ?
I ask, because I guess the changes (label, OS type, active setting, assigned space) will not be saved. No problems with UNZ.

If not, I can make a description by using UNZ + MS-DOS 6.2 Floppy Disk image + Harddisk image.

This is a quick stupid question. in the tab menu there is a bookkeeping entry, with coins a-h, and up time. I know it's used in Mame, but aren't it a bit redundant in Mess?

Do you know what chip it is yet? Is it FM-Towns-proprietary, or something else?

It's a Fujitsu custom that some other Fujitsu machines used, apparently.

For completeness sake, Fujitsu machines that uses the same SCSI device are the FMR-50 & FMR-60, that apparently comes before FM-Towns in the progression line.

fwiw some pics of these machines can be seen on Takeda site.
