The DLL isn't Windows only, it supports MacOS, Linux and Amiga too (32 bit, 64 bit and PPC).

ok, not Windows only, but still closed, and still at their mercy. You wouldn't just be able to compile a PS3 port for example, nor can you debug / trace / understand what's going on. You simply have a black box and no understanding of the data inside.

The SPS guys represent floppy discs at an even lower level than your plans for CDs (from what I understand..) basically studying the electrical signals, and building a disc image / format format from that. More the equivalent of you writing a custom firmware for the drives that just dumps raw information about the CDs from one edge to the other, regardless of if there is anything recorded there or not.

We can dump raw / scrambled data. Except chd supports unscambled.

Ideally CHD (and the supporting interfaces) will be updated to support the proper scrambled/raw data and thus properly represent any image.

That's where I'd like to see this go.

We are trying to support scrambled and unscrambled chd. It has to be coded into trurip and see first.

If scrambled, means you (Belmont) have to adjust your end.

PS. yes scrambled = the real deal (real data on cd including mastering errors - rip from a to z regardless]. And scrambled dumps can be burned off (so shouldn't be an issue).

yep, we'd need to know how to actually descramble the data, at least to initially allow the existing interfaces to work transparently.

beyond that, more advanced interfaces could be added to deal with the anomalies that the scrambled data can actually represent.

but yes, that's what I'd like to see.. the a-z full CD raw rips, with any mastering errors (which could be used for protections, or just due to bad understanding of the CD format at mastering time) represented.

okay, its clear for me. As for now let us first get it in / get it to work [keep in mind - .chd is for us an 'sidetrack' as to our original goals].

In the meantime let me know if dumping jag. cd's is worthwhile for you.

And will install this weekend mess emu + do some pce and cdi ready tests on it [trurip dumps converted to chd's]

Yes, both are the case.

They're currently in the process of opening up the IPF format, there will be full documentation. They're just not sure of the licensing issues. Look at forum.kryoflux.com for the discussion

scrambled cd data iirc is XORED against an LFSR with taps on bits 15 and 0. I think. The redbook and other X-book documents explain this, and I think the CD-I document does as well.
