Pay attention to Micko's post: it's MESSUI that's crumbling. MESS itself has never been better.

I don't know many emulators without a GUI. MAME has MAMEUI and derivatives/up to date frontends. I am not sure a majority of MAME users use the CLI version. Every console emulator I know of has a GUI. Call me retarded but I can not imagine myself running MESS with a command line. I don't think a very large public will bother with a command line either. I guess I can only hope someone will maintain the UI.

Most MAME front-ends also support MESS. We are not taking away the ability to use front ends with MESS, simply some badly rotted code from 12 years ago that no longer works in a modern Windows 7/64 bit/multilingual environment.

And I think you're being pre-emptively insulting to MAME/MESS users given that a large number actually compile their own. Even on the Mac.

I use the MESSUI yet I'm fine with the crusty code going.

I do not understand this post. I am not insulting anyone, trust me. And I do compile my own too. What part of my post was insulting, can you elaborate please?

The frontend could include a simple 'check for update' option wink

MinGW package

It seems, the most links to Aaron´s mirror page are no more working.
I suggest to use the links from the official MAME development tools page.

Most games should at least boot now, including the uber-fussy Urusei Yatsura.
Apparently only a bunch of those don't, mostly due to timing issues (Wolf Team games and Dungeon Explorer that hangs just after the intro). imho Mega CD is a good candidate for working state as per now.

In the other news, fixed layer clearances for the GCHRD text drawing mode in uPD7220, this makes the color mode in QX-10 Diagnostic to look pretty:
