no dump = nothing to search: we simply have no dump to look for...

if you use cmpro, there is correctly nothing missing in a scan

I think this one is the right topic for me :-)

I'm working on this project and wanna support the megadriv.xml. It looks like, it's maintained by hand and not generated!? So how can I sync the entries from the existing XML with my stuff? My DB contains the following stuff:

Code:
Name Year	PC	PA	Chip Region Size	Save	Misc J	U	E	J-PN	O-PN	PCB Lbl	CRC32	Remarks
Fantasia	1991 MPR-14028A	JAP, USA, EUR	512 KB	-	Revision 1	YES	YES	YES	G-4061	MK-1021	171-5703	IC	FC43DF2D

So I think it could easily converted to the XML struct except SHA-1 hashes that I didn't stored.

Any help in redumping carts and confirming their content (including part numbers, chip sizes, etc.) is very welcome

In this specific case, you should get in touch with elbarto: he's dealing with updates to megadriv.xml and he has re-dumped a lot of carts (that's why we have an increasing number of proper multichip carts with separate files and of roms in the real byte order, not in the one expected by most emulators).

oh, and yeah, the list is manually managed, because a lot of info is currently in comments.

Ouch shocked What is the real byte order and how is it defined for a system? I guess you mean little endian for the MD.

I stored everything as big endian coz IMO this is the only byte order from the 68k's view. As for 16 bit ROMs D15 is the MSB and D0 LSB. This is the way how I can access the data from the bus etc. From the x86 point of view it's little endian of course. I noticed this already on the Mega-Tech dumps from MAME.

So you add each entry manualy? Then I think it's the best way I send you the data as CSV or something like that. You can trust on my data ;P I'll crunch all PCB scans and send you the link by email. However, the CRCs refer to big endian dumps.

Looking though the C64_cart.xml file, I noticed Capture 2 cartridge, I was wondering what the difference between the Capture and the Capture 2 was, other than 2 years, that is if anyone knew? Also since I have the Capture cartridge, and I assume the second version is similar, how do you push the physical button on it, or didn't it have one?
