Hello!
I try to execute an old program (versacad II) on maciicx (r12292) and I obtain this error:

Ignoring MAME exception: fpgen_rm_reg: unimplemented opmode 1D at 001CE84C
fpgen_rm_reg: unimplemented opmode 1D at 001CE84C

I have installed MAC OS 6.0.5. Must I use another mac computer or another OS or what?

P.S. The Versacad II program starts correctly under BasiliskII.

Thank you,
Stefano

That's an unimplemented FPU operation - it sounds like Versacad II uses the FPU directly rather than via SANE and so needs more support. If I can locate a copy of the app it should be an easy fix.

ETA: easy, but not short - it wants the trig functions which will take a little while smile

I do not know if this new problem can interest someone:

I create a macsehd.chd following the "Install Macintosh System 6" wiki page using MAC OS 6.0.5 (not 6.0.8 due to problem reported by etabeta) and macse. I use the option “System Software for Any Macintosh”

If I run
mess maciicx -hard1 macsehd.chd
the system boot correctly

If I run
mess macse -hard1 macsehd.chd
the system freeze on the window that report "Welcome to Macintosh"

P.S. I'm using Linux/debian...

What problem did etabeta report? I have successfully installed 6.0.8 many times on the various drivers.

Also, a freeze on the "Welcome to Macintosh" screen usually means you installed AppleTalk drivers. The macii/iix/iicx and SE/30 drivers patch the ROM so AppleTalk immediately fails, but on other systems this can cause a hang. You might also try deleting the PRAM (macse.nv in whereever mess is configured to store nvram on your system).

Here "http://mamedev.emulab.it/etabeta/?p=155" etabeta report (and I have had the same problem) that using windows and StuffIt 9, "In fact, it turns out that both 6.0.3 and 6.0.5 disks will decompress perfectly, if you decompress them twice, and will result in 4 .image files around 800KB as expected (System Tools, Utilities 1, Utilities 2 and Printer Tools), but 6.0.8 disks will remain around 400KB and if you try to decompress them once more, StuffIt will complain about “Unrecognized Format”."

if you uncompress the files from Apple in OSX 10.4 (maybe also 10.5, I don't remember) or earlier, they of course work perfectly well (except for the fact that System Tools are not in the first disk, something which puzzled me for a long time until someone else pointed out this simple fact blush )

but if you try to uncompress the files in OSX 10.6 or in windows, they don't work properly

not much, given that it's this step which used to fail:

Quote:
Uncompressed, they should get a ”.sea” extension, so change it to ”.img” and replace both the spaces with underscores to make command lines easier.

wink

Also, stefo clearly stated he followed the instructions on that page...

anyway, if you get uncompressed .sea/.img files, then the installation proceeds fine, because it's not an emulation problem smile
